2007 No Child Left Behind – Blue Ribbon School
Hendersonville Elementary School has been named a 2007 No Child Left Behind – Blue Ribbon School by the U. S. Department of Education. The school is one of only five North Carolina public schools to receive this recognition. A total of 237 public and 50 private schools were recognized. These schools model excellence in leadership, teaching, curriculum, student achievement, and parental involvement. They must also reflect the goals of the nation’s new education reforms for helping all students achieve at very high levels and for making significant progress in closing the achievement gap found under the No Child Left Behind.

Hendersonville Elementary Principal Charlie Snead and classroom teacher Anne Matteson attended a National Recognition Ceremony in Washington, D.C., November 12-13, where they received a plaque and flag signifying the school’s No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School status.

The school celebrated being one of the best schools in the United States during an assembly on November 16. Senator Tom Apodaca and Representative Carolyn Justus attended the celebration.
